“I Won’t Pray for Killers, I’ll Pray Against Them” – Bishop Oyedepo

The founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has condemned the wave of killings in Nigeria, saying he would pray against those responsible instead of praying for them.

Speaking during a church service, Bishop Oyedepo reacted to the July 27, 2026, attack in Kaduna, where gunmen reportedly killed at least 30 people, including women and children.

The cleric described those behind the violence and anyone supporting them as agents of destruction, saying they would face God’s judgment.

Woe to all destructive agents in Nigeria. Whether in power or out of power, judgement has finally come,” he said..

Oyedepo also rejected cals that he should pray for those carrying out the attacks.

He said, “You can’t slaughter members of my family and want me to pray for you. I pray against you, against your household, against your generation, in the name of Jesus.”

The cleric further claimed that the attackers were receiving support from sponsors.

Everybody knows that these wicked people are being sponsored. Anyone who doesn’t know that, that’s a problem,” he said.

He went on to pronounce a curse on anyone allegedly financing the violence across the country.

Every sponsor of killers in Nigeria, you come under a curse today,” Oyedepo declared.

The bishop also criticised the government’s response to the continued killings.

He questioned why the attacks have continued, saying he had not heard any official statement condemning the latest incident in Kaduna.

You mean they kill people every day and government is pretending not to know what to do?” he asked.

“I have not heard any statement from government quarters against the killings. I’m here to hear one, sir. Our human life is not of value anymore?”

Bishop Oyedepo also spoke about what he called growing restrictions on public preaching.

When you see God keep quiet at the wickedness of the wicked, it’s because the bubble is about to burst,” he said.

“I have long held my peace… but now I will rise, like a wounded lion, and I will devour at once.”

Reiterating his message, Oyedepo added, “As the Lord lives… this bubble will burst. Go and hide anywhere. The bubble will burst.”
