The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu was absent at the signing of the peace accord for the 2023 elections.
The APC presidential candidate was represented by his running mate, Kashim Shettima, at the event which took place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, on Thursday.
Major contenders in the presidential race, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP); and Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC), were present at the event.
The peace accord was organized by the National Peace Committee (NPC) and headed by former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, and Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.
Abubakar said the accord was to promote peaceful electioneering.
