Senator Remi Tinubu, wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has been trending on social media after an old video of her resurfaced online.
In the video which was captured on the 2019 election day, the lawmaker was heard threatening to invoke deities in Lagos to drive the Igbos out of the state and inherit their wealth.
“We will entreat all the deities of Lagos to chase Igbo people out. Igbo who didn’t marry Yoruba, we will inherit their belongings. Given how much we love Igbo, you now want to spoil everything.
“You are not the only tribe in this place, Hausa are here, we accommodate them, ‘Calabar’ are here, we accommodate them. But Igbo are proving difficult. We will inherit them,” she said in Yoruba language.
Mrs Tinubu’s comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media with some people claiming she was merely joking, others said she was echoing her disdain for the Igbo tribe.
