Forty-nine (49) suspected internet fraudsters popularly known as “Yahoo Boys” have been arrested by operatives of the Abuja zonal command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the EFCC.
The statement said the suspects, who were between the ages of 19 and 32, were arrested in a sting operation in various homes at Navy Estate, Cajaah-Orozo, a suburb of Abuja, following credible intelligence on their alleged criminal activities.
The statement reads, “Among items seized from them include over fifty mobile phones of different brands, fifteen laptops, and a Lexus ES330 salon.”
The statement noted that the suspects will be charged in court as soon as the investigations are concluded.
