Sani stated this in an open letter addressed to women and posted on his Twitter handle on Thursday morning.

He was reacting to the recent cash withdrawal limits on individuals and organisations by the CBN.

Kanyi Daily reported that the CBN had on Tuesday announced the new cash withdrawal limits in a new memo to banks signed by the Director of Banking Supervision, Haruna .B. Mustafa.

The new withdrawal limits take effect from January 9, 2023.

According to the memo, individuals will only be able to withdraw N100,000 per week ( from over-the-counter, Point of Sale Machines, or the Automated Teller Machines), while organisations can access N500,000 per week.

Banks have also been directed to load only N200 and lower denominations into their ATM.

Divergent reactions have been trailing the announcement by the CBN, with the majority faulting the apex bank’s decision.

In his tweet, Sani told women to blame Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the CBN if stinginess hits them in the face.

The former lawmaker wrote, “Dear Women and Ladies; I hope you’ve read the CBN 100k limit.

“Blame Emefiele if stinginess hit you for face.”
