Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele on Thursday arrived at the Aso Rock Villa.
Godwin Emefiele said he earlier met with the leadership of at least 15 commercial banks after President Muhammadu Buhari’s latest directive on the new Naira policy.
By Buhari’s directive, only old N200 notes will remain legal tender in the country.
The CBN Governor was at the State House, Abuja, for a separate assignment (not with the President).
According to Emefiele, his meeting with the bank executives earlier on Thursday was to ensure an ample supply of the old N200 notes to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians.
More details to come as this is a developing story.
Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that the publisher of an online newspaper, Daily Nigerian, Jaafar Jaafar, has predicted serious trouble for Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Rivers State, Godwin Emefiele and Nyesom Wike respectively if Bola Tinubu or Atiku Abubakar wins the forthcoming presidential election.
