ADC Guber Candidates, Tonte Ibraye, Tonto Dikeh Steps Down For APC’s Tonye Cole In Rivers

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Tonte Ibraye, and his running mate, Tonto Dikeh, have officially stepped down from the race.

KanyiDaiy recalls the ADC had earlier suspended Tonte Ibraye and Tonto Dikeh over their alleged involvement in anti-party activities and insubordination.

Ibraye and Dikeh were suspended with some core members of the party, barely two days before the governorship and state assembly elections slated for Saturday, March 18, 2023.

In a post shared on her Instagram page, Tonto Dikeh confirmed that the ADC) was no longer in the race, adding that they have adopted Tonye Cole of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as their governorship candidate.

The actress, who revealed that their decision was for the good of Rivers people and in order not to split votes, urged her supporters to vote for Cole during the gubernatorial election to take place on Saturday.

She wrote: “STRONGER TOGETHER FOR A UNITED RIVERS STATE.

“Having carefully listened to the advise of elders and political leaders of Rivers State on the need for the opposition to look inwards and present a unified, competent and generally acceptable candidate with the capacity to win the March 18th gubernatorial elections, and the need for the opposition to prevent splitting its votes amongst several candidates, today we officially adopted Pastor Tonye Cole, Governorship Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Rivers State as the consensus and unifying Candidate of the opposition.

“Upon his victory Tonye Cole will form a unity government comprising of the APC and other opposition parties in this alliance titled “Stronger Together for a United Rivers State”.

“I hereby call on all my supporters to vote for Tonye Cole of the APC this Saturday.”

Meanwhile, journalist Kemi Olunloyo had mocked Tonto Dikeh over their suspension, claiming that the actress is living a fake life and that the campaigns she participated in were staged.
