Something Dey Worry You For Head, I Said You Would Go – Nyesom Wike Mocks Ayu After Removal

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has mocked the embattled former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu following his suspension from the party by his council ward in Benue State.

Recall that a few days ago, the Executive Committee of the PDP in Igyorov Ward, Gboko Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State suspended Ayu with immediate effect.

Kanyi Daily had earlier reported that the former senate president stepped down as the National Chairman of the PDP on Tuesday.

Ayu’s action came days after a federal judge ordered his temporary exit from office pending resolution to a series of political crises that recently beset the main opposition party.

Nyesom Wike, who spoke on Tuesday (today), during the commissioning of the first phase of the Trans-Kalabari road in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, said Ayu cannot preside over them in the party, especially as he failed to win the election in his unit, ward, and state.

“Ayu said nobody can suspend him, but today he has packed out from the office. We have an active chairman now. I told him, you will go, whether he likes it or not.

“Those lawyers telling you that the Ward has no power to suspend you, that it is only NEC, then you don’t understand. When you came, it was the Ward that suspended Secondus. And you went and took office, it is now that you know that it is only NEC that can suspend.

“Let me tell you since they’ve not told you, the court has struck out that section of our constitution to say that NEC only can suspend the National Chairman. So you don’t know what you are talking about. PDP did not even appeal the judgment. So, forget, your own is gone. You must be wasting your time.”

Nyesom Wike further blasted Ayu, “A man lost his unit, a man lost his ward, a man lost his local government, a man lost his state, and he’s coming to preside over we who won our unit, our ward, our local government, our state. Something dey worry am for head.”

Iyorchia Ayu fought for months to remain in office against stiff opposition from the PDP G5 governors led by Wike.

Nyesom Wike and other G5 governors including Samuel Ortom of Benue, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia insisted that Ayu must step aside for a southerner to occupy the seat.

They based their argument that since the party’s presidential ticket had gone to a northerner (Atiku Abubakar), it was unjust the position of the national chairman remained in the north.

Atiku is from Adamawa, North East, while Ayu hails from Benue, North Central.

In the meantime, a new national chairman of the PDP has been appointed. He is Umar Damagum.
