Kidnappers Of Nasarawa Ex-Deputy Governor, Onje Gye-Wado Demand N70m Ransom

The kidnappers who abducted a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Professor Onje Gye-Wado, have demanded N70million ransom to release him.

KanyiDaily had reported how Onje Gye-Wado was kidnapped by gunmen on Friday morning in his house in Gwagi village of Wamba local government area.

A family source told newsmen on Saturday that the kidnappers placed a call to make their demands for the first time since the abduction of the Professor on Friday.

According to the source, the family members are pleading with the abductors to accept N2 million instead of the N70 million that was requested because of the unavailability of cash occasioned by the Easter holiday.

“The kidnappers are in touch with the family of Prof and they have demanded the sum of N70 million, but we are appealing that they should collect N2 million because we can not raise anything more than that due to the public holidays declared by the Federal Government for the Easter celebration.

“Today Friday, till Monday, is public holiday, there is no where we can get money and we want him (Prof), back alive” the source said.

This comes barely 24 hours after gunmen kidnapped a traditional ruler, His Royal Highness Sunday Dajep, from his palace in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.
