The Bauchi Chief accountant also lost his two children in the auto crash which occurred on Saturday afternoon, along the Azare/Sakwaa road in Zaki LGA of Bauchi State.
According to Nigerian Tribune, Yakubu Sakwaa and his two children met their untimely demise when they were en route to Sakwaa, their village, to attend a family engagement.
A reliable source in Azare, who told the publication about the unfortunate incident, said that the car veered off the road due to a tire burst and collided with a large tree by the roadside.
The source said that the impact of the crash was so severe that the red car was almost torn into two equal halves, indicating that it had been traveling at a high speed at the time of the accident.
The bodies of Yakubu Sakwaa and his children were laid to rest later in the day in accordance with Islamic customs following a funeral prayer held in Sakwa, their village.
Several dignitaries paid their respects, including a representative from the Head of Civil Service of Bauchi State, two Permanent Secretaries, and three Directors from the office.
The State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has not officially confirmed the details of the crash as of the time of this report on Sunday evening.
