Fuel subsidy: Tinubu broke record in 24hrs – Charly Boy

Famous Nigerian artist and socio-political activist Charles Oputa, also known as Charly Boy, has raised alarm about President Bola Tinubu’s decision to eliminate fuel subsidies, claiming that the newly elected president has broken a record.

Remember that the president stated during his inaugural address on Monday that the subsidy would no longer be maintained.

Stakeholders have continued to express varied feelings about the development. While some congratulated the president for taking the risk, others believe the policy is arriving at the wrong time.

Charly Boy noted that Tinubu’s contentious remark about the subsidies had caused petrol prices to rise in some parts of the country.

In a tweet on his own Twitter account, the musician pondered if people who applauded the president’s move would face the repercussions.

“Tinubu don break record within 24 hours after swearing-in,” he wrote. Following the announcement of the termination of fuel subsidies, fuel shortages and price have escalated. Day 1 got off to a fast start.

“The question is, will the BATIS purchase this fuel at a different price than we do?” We’ll find out soon.”
