Guinness World Records Speaks On Hilda Baci’s ‘Longest Cooking Marathon’

The Guinness World Records has not confirmed Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, as the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon.

KanyiDaily recalls that Hilda Baci recently broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time by an individual after smashing the previous record set by Chef Lata Tondon in Rewa, India in 2019.

The Akwa Ibom chef, who broke Tondon’s record of 87hours, 45 minutes, cooked for 100 hours and 40 minutes to set a new world record as the first human on earth to spend such an amount of time cooking.

But in a statement issued on Tuesday, Guinness World Records said its officials eagerly await the submission of evidence, expressing their anticipation to assess Hilda’s efforts and potentially validate her remarkable achievement as a new record holder.

The statement reads, “She’s hoping to snap up the record title for the longest cooking marathon (individual) which currently belongs to Lata Tondon (India) with a time of 87 hr 45 min”.

“Hilda began cooking on Thursday and continued through to Monday, reportedly whipping up 55 recipes and more than 100 meals in a whopping 100-hour stint.

“Officials on our records team look forward to reviewing the evidence and hope to be able to verify Hilda’s efforts as a new record very soon,” it added.

A spokesperson from the renowned British reference organization stated, “We looking forward to receiving the evidence for its Records Management Team to review before we can confirm the record is official.”

All fingers crossed as Nigerians earnestly wait to see their very own announced officially as the new world champion in longest time spent cooking.
