It was gathered that the collapse happened during the inauguration at the Sani Abacha Stadium, shortly after Abba Kabir Yusuf assumed his new position as Kano governor.
At the time of the incident, the Governor, his Deputy, and the acting Chief Judge were present on the podium.
Eyewitnesses said that some youths had climbed onto the rooftop of the podium, which ultimately led to its collapse.
Fortunately, both the governor and his deputy were confirmed to be safe, despite the unsettling turn of events.
Abba Kabir, a candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has succeeded Abdullahi Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the new Governor of Kano State.
