KanyiDaily recalls that during a recent interview with Brut Afrique, Davido claimed that he and Wizkid were the first young Nigerian artists to achieve stardom.
Davido, however, said he was excited to see “new cats” like Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, and Asake now making remarkable strides in the music industry.
The statement made by Davido has generated diverse reactions on social media, with some fans of Burna Boy expressing their disagreement, as they believe the Grammy-winning artist should not be compared to emerging musicians.
In support of Davido’s statement during an interview at Echo Room on Friday, B-Red shared his personal experience on how the met Wizkid and Burna Boy.
He said, “Burna Boy, in fact, the very first day I met Burna Boy, he was in Port Harcourt. He was running after me and Davido’s car, saying ‘Oh my God, I love you! I love you Davido’.”
KanyiDaily that Burna Boy had broken his silence after Davido classified him as a ‘new cat’ in the Nigerian music industry.
