The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a suspected gunrunner, Abubakar Muhammad (aka Abu Direba).
Direba was arrested by a joint security team comprising the DSS, Nigerian Army, and the police on June 19th, 2023 along the Abuja- Keffi Expressway in Keffi LGA of Nasarawa State.
During the operation, the team seized the following items: Four Hundred and Eighty-Six (486) rounds of 7.62 x39mm calibre ammunition; Twenty-Two (22) primed IEDs, The sum of Thirty-One Thousand, Five Hundred naira (N31,500) and One (1) Volkswagen Golf vehicle with registration number- RBC202XA.
Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that the DSS has killed a one-time jailbreaker and notorious gang leader, Kabir Bala, popularly known as “Okwo” in Ejule, Ofu LGA of Kogi State.
In other news, the DSS has raised the alarm of plans to attack worship and recreational centres before and during the Eid celebrations next week.
