“Let The Poor Breathe” – Civil Society Protest In Edo Over Fuel Price Hike [Video]

Civil Society Organizations in Edo state embarked on a street protest this morning, expressing their vehement opposition to the persistent rise in petrol pump prices.

The protesters passionately conveyed their message, urging the Federal government to consider the plight of the poor citizens who are significantly affected by the escalating fuel costs.

Carrying an array of placards with powerful messages, the demonstrators questioned the role of NNPC as the fuel price regulator, demanding transparency and accountability.

Other placards stressed the need for the government to prioritize reducing the cost of governance rather than burdening the populace with higher fuel prices.

Additionally, the protesters urged the government to focus on fixing the nation’s refineries to enhance self-sufficiency in fuel production.

They carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘’How did NNPC become fuel price regulator?”, Reduce Cost of Governance Not Increasing Fuel Price’, FG fix our refineries’.

The protesters voiced their collective call for a more affordable and sustainable solution to ease the hardships faced by ordinary Nigerians due to the escalating fuel prices.
