Hilda Baci, who recently bagged the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, spoke during an interview on Cool FM’s program, The Big Friday Show, which was hosted by reality star Tacha.
The Akwa Ibom chef shared her insights into the challenges that successful women like her often confront due to the pervasive influence of stereotypes.
During the interview, Tacha inquired about Hilda’s perspective on the personal aspects of her journey, particularly as an accomplished and multi-talented woman.
Tacha inquired, “Like girls like us, we look very cute, and we’re putting in the work or making money, but most people decide to be blind towards that. Like, do you get stereotyped?”
In her response, Hilda Baci recounted her own encounters with stereotypes, both throughout her life and more intensely in recent times.
She recalled a specific instance where she felt undervalued and misjudged, citing a particular award event that left her feeling underestimated.
Reflecting on these experiences, she stated, “Oh yes. All my life. I have been stereotyped all my life. More now. More now than before. I remember a particular award where I was like…they didn’t think that I had, you know, much to offer. I don’t know if that makes any sense.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Hilda Baci had also revealed that she attempted to secure a spot on the Big Brother Naija reality show five times, but her endeavors didn’t result in selection.
