Kenyan Chef, Maliha Mohammed Finally Breaks Hilda Baci’s Guinness World Record [Video]

Kenyan chef, Maliha Mohammed has finally broken the cooking world record held by Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci.

KanyiDaily recalls that on May 15, 2023, Hilda Baci surpassed the previous Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time held by Chef Lata Tondon from Rewa, India in 2019.

On June 13, the Guinness World Records confirmed that Hilda Baci broke the record for the longest-cooking marathon by a single individual with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.

Before the confirmation, Maliha Mohammed revealed that she had written to the Guinness World Records team in December 2022, informing them of her intention to challenge two cooking records in 2023.

In the email notification, Maliha said she would attempt to break two records including Hilda’s Longest Cooking by an Individual Marathon and the Home Kitchen Cooking Marathon.

The Kenyan Chef, who broke the Guinness World Record for the longest-time cooking with a remarkable 72-hour in 2018 and cooked for 75 hours in 2019, fixed August 11 and October 11 respectively for her two cook-a-thon in 2023.

On June 16, the 40-year-old chef announced that she would be doing her cooking trial in Tudor, Mombasa, and it will last for 55 hours and in that time, she will prepare 100 recipes.

Taking to her Instagram page on Tuesday, August 15, Maliha proudly unveiled her momentous achievement through a distinctively designed flyer that boldly states, “NEW WORLD RECORD.”

In the post, the mother of two expressed her gratitude: “Yes, we did it! New world record holder for the longest home kitchen cooking marathon in town Shukran for the support.”

Videos circulating online depict the joyous scenes of Maliha’s supporters erupting in cheers and applause, forming a jubilant circle around her as she switched off the gas burner.

KanyiDaily recalls that Liberian chef, Wonyean Aloycious Gaye is also seeking to surpass the impressive cooking record set by Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci.
