“This Isn’t Leadership” – Mr Macaroni Slams Akpabio Over Holiday Money For Senators

Nigerian comedian, Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has strongly criticized the lack of discretion and sensitivity exhibited by Nigerian leaders.

KanyiDaily recalls that during a recent plenary session, the Senate president, Godswill Akpabio announced to his colleagues that “a token has been sent to their various accounts to enable them enjoy their holiday”.

Akpabio’s remark triggered backlash and criticism, with many Nigerians blasting the National Assembly over its reckless and flamboyant lifestyles amid the widespread hardship experienced by the citizens.

Reacting on his Twitter page, Mr Macaroni questioned the rationale behind impoverished Nigerians having to fund the opulent lifestyles of their leaders.

The comedian stated that despite political figures and elites preaching about living modestly while indulging in lavish living, akin to the tale of the biblical prodigal son.

He lamented that the same Nigerian leaders asking followers to make sacrifices do not appear interested in inconveniencing themselves for the greater good.

Mr Macaroni wrote: “The Senate President has sent very expensive prayers out of the insufficient blessings of over 200 million people to himself and his already blessed colleagues at the National Assembly.

“These are the leaders that have asked struggling Nigerians to make sacrifices if they want things to work in the country. So while Nigerians are going through unbearable hardship, our leaders are sending money to themselves to enjoy holidays.

“Who are those that should be making sacrifices if not for our leaders? Do our leaders understand that leadership is about service, selfishness and sacrifice?? Why do the poor people of Nigeria have to pay for the luxurious lifestyle of the leaders?? Why??? This isn’t leadership!!!”

KanyiDaily recalls that former Kaduna senater, Shehu Sani reacted to Akpabio’s remark saying that crediting the accounts of legislators are done under the mute button, but the “uncommon Senate President”, however, mistakenly pressed the alarm.
