Many Artistes Copied My Style Without Giving Me Credit – Rema

Nigerian artist, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has expressed his belief that his fellow musicians are emulating his image and musical approach.

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Rema claimed that many of his colleagues are copying his branding and musical style.

He acknowledged that despite these imitators not acknowledging him, he finds it “flattering” that his work serves as inspiration for others.

Rema highlighted his relentless commitment to growth, stressing his dislike for idleness and expressing an eagerness to evolve the Afrobeat sound further.

The singer has long been dedicated to transforming not only the music but also the approach to performances, and overall branding within the industry.

He said, “I’ve been on the road for 4 years back-to-back; dropping bangers, hopping on stages. It has helped my growth non-stop.

“In as much as vacation is needed, I just don’t like to feel idle. I have so much plans for evolving this [afrobeats] sound. I’ve always been that guy who just want to change the guy and change how the game is perceived. From sound to shows, to branding.

“Even though some artists will not give me credit, I know how many people [artists] have copied my moves and I am flattered by it.”

KanyiDaily recalls that singer Johnny Drille stated that Rema is not given enough respect for his outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry and beyond.
