Workers Shut Down National Assembly Over Nationwide Strike [Photos]

Following the nationwide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), workers have shut down the National Assembly complex in Abuja.

KanyiDaily recalls that the NLC and TUC had ordered a nationwide strike on Monday midnight, November 13, due to the assault and mistreatment of NLC President Joe Ajaero in Owerri, Imo State, on November 1, along with other unresolved labor-related concerns.

On Tuesday morning, the National Assembly complex was shut down by workers, leading to restricted access and stranding both cars and individuals.

A sergeant-at-arms informed a reporter from TheCable that access was denied even to journalists.

“We are on strike and won’t allow you in even if you’re a journalist,” a sergeant-at-arms said.
