Six Commissioners Resign from Governor Fubara’s Administration in Rivers

Six commissioners within the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara in Rivers State have resigned from their appointments.

Included in the resignations are Professor Zaccheus Adango, SAN, who served as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Chukwuemeka Woke, the Commissioner for Special Projects, and Dr. Dakorima George Kelly, the Commissioner for Works.

Others include Hon. Issac Kamalu, the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Chinwenwo Aguma, the Commissioner for Social Welfare, and Professor Chinedu Mmom, the Commissioner for Education, who have also submitted their resignations.

Kanyi Daily reports that six commissioners had served in different roles during the immediate past administration of Nyesom Wike, who now holds the position of Minister in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Adango and Woke held positions as Wike’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, and Chief of Staff, respectively, while Kelly and Kamalu served as Special Advisers for Special Projects and Finance, respectively.

Aguma and Mmom shared similar roles as Commissioners for Social Welfare and Education, respectively.

The resignation of these six high-ranking government officials might be linked to the ongoing conflict between Wike and his successor, Governor Fubara

Adango In a letter delivered through the Secretary to the State Government and shared with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Thursday, said that his resignation was driven by personal considerations.

The letter read in part: “I hereby give Your Excellency Notice of my resignation as the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Rivers State with effect from the date of this letter.

“For the avoidance of doubt, my resignation from the said office is based purely on personal principles

“I wish to thank Your Excellency for the opportunity and privilege granted me to serve in your administration as a member of the Cabinet. My family and I are indebted to Your Excellency in gratitude.”

Kanyi Daily recalls that the Coalition for Truth and Justice had strongly opposed a recent Federal High Court order that restricts  Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State from performing specific official duties.
