Asake Dragged For Disrespecting And Making Mockery Of Christianity In His ‘Only Me’ Video

Nigerian singer, Asake has stirred controversy on social media with the release of the music video for his hit single ‘Only Me.’

In the video directed by TG Omori, Asake is seen dressed in priestly attire, distributing communion in a setting resembling a church.

The visual released on Thursday also features vixens dressed like altar servers, assisting in the church-like atmosphere.

The video has triggered a wave of criticism on social media where users accused Asake, a Muslim, of disrespecting and making mockery of the Christian faith.

Some users referenced a scene in his previous’Bandana’ video, where black goats entered a church, adding to the accusations of disrespect toward Christianity.

An X user, @Solomon_Buchi, expressed dissatisfaction, stating, “Asake keeps disrespecting the Christian faith in his music videos.

“Dramatizing giving the Eucharist, robed up in priestly regalia for a music video that has no connection with Christianity is disrespectful.

“In his Bandana video, he depicts black goats troping into the church, with cloven tongues of fire above weird men.

“Asake, I think, is a Muslim. Why doesn’t he go above and beyond to embarrass his Muslim faith in this same way? Why do Christians even listen to these musicians who bluntly disrespect Christianity?”

Another user, @sire_hades, commented, “This is not the first time, Asake, Olamide, and the entire YBNL are disrespecting Christians. Asake is a Muslim; let him shoot his video in a mosque wearing an imam’s robe.”

@rukky_nate added, “Christianity is the actual religion of peace, tolerance, and the gullible. The faith enjoins all to live in harmony, love and defend its name without chopping off heads.”

One Twitter user noted, “Christianity has lost its value until even Muslims are condemning what Asake did in this video.”

KanyiDaily recalls that Asake recently gave N5million to an ailing policewoman, Helen Utabor, for using her viral phrase ‘Epp me.’
