The development was announced on Friday, the same day the board released results for 632,788 candidates who took the exam on Thursday, April 16.
JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, said the suspects were caught after they allegedly altered official SMS result messages to create fake or changed scores with the intent to deceive others, including parents and guardians.
“Currently, two candidates and one parent are in custody for engaging in result falsification using AI and other electronic means,” the statement read.
JAMB stressed that the act is a serious offence and warned that anyone involved in similar actions would face the full force of the law.
The board also advised candidates not to tamper with result messages sent through its official SMS channels, 55019 and 66019.
Candidates who participated in the exam on April 16 can check their results by sending UTMERESULT via SMS to either shortcode using the phone number used during registration. Printing of official result slips is not yet available and will be announced later.
The 2026 UTME started on April 16 and is scheduled to run until April 22 across various centres in the country. Results will continue to be released gradually as the examination continues.
