In 2020, Burna Boy claimed nobody in the Nigerian music industry paved the way for him because artists including his senior colleagues were busy doing things for themselves or hating on another’s progress.
In response to Burna Boy’s statement, Abdulkareem, speaking in a snippet from an unreleased episode of ‘The Honest Bunch,’ expressed his disagreement with the Grammy award-winning singer’s views on his colleagues.
Abdulkareem particularly took issue with Burna Boy’s assertion that nobody helped him in Nigeria, labeling his comments as “stupid talk”
Lashing out at Burna Boy, Eedris Abdulkareem said, “You hear someone like Burna Boy say no one helped him in Nigeria. That’s stupid talk.”
The rapper also emphasizes that music star Davido, not Burna Boy, is the true Odogwu. He credited Davido for his contributions to society and achievements.
He noted that Davido has added value to people’s lives and is not trying to overshadow others, unlike what he perceives Burna Boy to be doing.
His statement: “You’re not behaving like an African person; you’re behaving like a (caption this). Please take it easy, dude. Wetin happen?”
“Davido has been there before you; Wizkid has been there before you; a lot of people have been there before you. You’re not a giant, you’re not the giant of Africa.”
“You never reach Odogwu; na Davido be Odogwu. Na Eedris Abdulkareem I be, na me dey talk the truth, even if you like am or not.”
“It’s the same thing I said to 2face Idibia; I told him he’s the plantation, the rest, my boys, but don’t let it get to your head.”
“Na Davido be Odogwu; I no know you. Na Davido be the only Odogwu wey we know because he has added value to the lives of people, and he’s not trying to take anybody’s shine.”
Eedris Abdulkareem made several other statements about Burna Boy in the said video, which has been attached below.
