In a video shared on social media, Portable expressed his belief that Nigerians should prioritize uniting against the prevalent hunger and hardships in the country rather than focusing on football.
The singer emphasized that those rejoicing over the Super Eagles’ triumph likely haven’t had a meal, contrasting their hunger with the players who have received their salaries.
He pointed out that while the Super Eagles players have received their salaries, a significant portion of the population may be struggling to put food on their tables.
Portable said, “My people, pray for Nigeria. Hungry wan kill us. You people should sit down and ask yourself ‘Why am I happy? Why am I dancing up and down? Have I eaten? Dollar has risen. Euro is running. Where is the Naira? You are not thinking about your life, you watching football, opening your chest. Your wife and children are at home, they have not eaten and you are shouting ’Goal! Goal!, Up Nigeria!”
Meanwhile, Nollywood actor, Muyiwa Ademola has questioned why football seems to be the only factor capable of uniting Nigerians without considering tribal differences.
