Troops from the 93 Battalion, operating under the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, have apprehended a suspected female kidnapper while attempting to collect ransom in Taraba State

Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde, spokesperson for the 6 Brigade, stated that the troops also seized a notorious gunrunner engaged in supplying arms and ammunition to criminals in Taraba State and other parts of the country

The female suspect is reported to be married to a notorious criminal who served as the second-in-command to the late Hana Terwase

The spokesperson stated that the troops were acting on credible intelligence regarding the activities of the arms dealer, 45-year-old Joshua Dutse Idah

He further explained, “The troops had trailed the suspect, leading to his arrest in Ibbi town of Ibbi Local Government Area of the state while he was driving to Kaduna State in a blue Volkswagen Sharon vehicle with registration number Rivers SKN-390AA.”

Olubodunde added that during interrogation, Dutse confessed that he was going to Katsina State to bring AK-47 rifles for which he received part payment of N300,000, adding that after a thorough search on the vehicle, troops recovered 1 PK machine gun, 399 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition and 3 AK-47 rifle magazines.

Olubodunde revealed that a suspected female kidnapper named Janet Igohia, aged 31 was apprehended after collecting a ransom of N1.5 million for an abducted victim in the Chanchangi area of Takum LGA in the state.

He explained that Igohia disclosed her marriage to Voryor Gata, a notorious criminal and former second-in-command to the late Gana Terwase

He stated that she is presently married to the leader of a violent extremist group in southern Taraba and had previously been married to high-profile criminals, including the late Terkibi Gemaga, also known as Mopol, a notorious kidnapper who was killed by troops five years ago.

She also disclosed that she was married to the late Gana Terwase, another notorious criminal who was killed during a joint special force operation three years ago.

Lieutenant Olubodunde stated that soldiers stationed in the Mararaba Baissa community of Donga LGA arrested two suspected gunrunners.
These individuals were reportedly involved in extra-judicial killings and cattle rustling, and they were found in possession of N600,000

He provided the names of the suspects as Alhaji Adamu Damisa (40 years old) and Usman Isah (44 years old).

Kanyi Daily recalls that Soldiers from the 114 Battalion (Rear) of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, joined forces with other security units to dismantle multiple hideouts of bandits and rescued four kidnapped victims in Yorro Local Government Area of Taraba on Saturday.
