The money was donated after Blessing CEO announced that she was battling breast cancer and needed financial help for surgery.
In January, the relationship expert revealed that doctors had diagnosed her with the illness and appealed to the public for support to cover the medical costs.
Her announcement, however, was greeted with doubt, as many online users questioned whether the diagnosis was genuine and accused her of using it to collect money.
In a video that has since gone viral, Blessing CEO defended her decision, saying she could not post her cancer test results online because of medical privacy concerns.
Blessing also responded to activist VeryDarkMan who warned that if it later turned out that she doesn’t have cancer, he would make her return his contribution.
She added that even if she decided to release the results, many of the people attacking her would not understand the medical details.
The influencer also stressed that donations were completely voluntary and that nobody was pressured to contribute.
She further argued that her long record of helping others gives her the confidence to also seek public support when needed.
“If I show you the result, can you interpret it? Show me one cancer patient who came to the internet to show their results. Because I came out and said lovers help me,” she said.
“Most of you who are making noise did not bring one kobo. If VDM wants to collect his money, that means it’s installment then him go wait make I sell. He would wait for me to sell my hair or sell my clothes.
“A lot of people who are commenting are ignorant about cancer. The people who understand are people who have gone through it. Many of you don’t understand privacy. If you do not trust me, do not give me your money.
“If you do not want to give, keep your money. I do not put a gun to your head to give me your one naira. I have paid my dues on social media.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Blessing CEO had listed her mansion in Lagos for a distress sale in an effort to raise money for medical treatment.
