During a Ramadan dinner with members of the federal judiciary on Tuesday, Tinubu emphasized the need to address this issue with utmost seriousness and urgency.
The president highlighted the distasteful nature of kidnapping activities and called for decisive action against those involved.
In a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, presidential spokesperson, Tinubu said that people engaged in kidnapping should be classified and treated as terrorists.
He denounced their cowardice, particularly targeting vulnerable groups such as children, and emphasized their inability to confront the strength of the Nigerian armed forces.
”We must treat kidnappers as terrorists. They are cowardly. They have been degraded. They look for soft targets,” Tinubu said.
“They go to schools and kidnap children and cause disaffection. We must treat them equally as terrorists in order to get rid of them, and I promise you, we will get rid of them.”
KanyiDaily recalls that President Bola Tinubu had also announced that the Nigerian soldiers killed in Delta state will be posthumously honored with national awards.
