The club had reached an agreement with the former Feyenoord coach over three weeks ago but chose to delay the announcement until after Klopp’s departure.
Slot’s appointment comes with a three-year contract, and he is set to start on June 1, pending a work permit.
However, he has already begun preparations by moving Liverpool’s pre-season training forward by a week.
The 45-year-old had two years left on his contract with Feyenoord, who will receive €9m (£7.7m) plus €2m in add-ons as compensation.
The new Liverpool coach took over from Jürgen Klopp, who decided to step down at the end of the current season.
Slot enjoyed a successful stint with Feyenoord, leading them to the league title in 2023 and earning Eredivisie Manager of the Year honors twice. He most recently guided the team to victory in the KNVB Cup in April.
Before Feyenoord, Slot served as head coach at AZ Alkmaar, guiding them to second place in the table before the 2019-20 Dutch season was canceled due to COVID-19.
As a player, Slot played primarily as a midfielder for FC Zwolle, NAC Breda, Sparta Rotterdam, and PEC Zwolle, retiring in 2013.
Slot will be Liverpool FC’s first head coach from the Netherlands, and his inaugural pre-season with the squad is slated to commence in July.
Meanwhile, Chelsea on Sunday won the Women’s Super League (WSL) title for the fifth year in a row.
