Yemi Alade Slams Lagos Government Over Demolitions Of Houses

Nigerian songstress, Yemi Alade has slammed the Lagos State government over the recent demolitions of homes in the Mende area of Maryland.

It was gathered that residents were given a mere two-hour notice to evacuate their homes before demolition over the weekend.

But the commissioner of the ministry, Tokunbo Wahab, refuted claims of providing only two hours’ notice to residents, stating that they were adequately warned beforehand

Reacting to the development via her X page Monday, Yemi Alade voiced her strong criticism towards the Lagos State authorities.

The singer emphasized the importance of providing adequate notice to residents before carrying out demolitions, urging the government to improve in this aspect.

She insisted that proper notification should be sent directly to residents and publicized in the news, criticizing the traumatic impact of sudden eviction notices.

Addressing the approval process for the buildings in question, Alade Alade questioned how they were initially authorized by the Lagos State government.

She highlighted the trust placed in the government by legal buyers and developers, emphasizing the disappointment caused by the abrupt eviction notices.

Yemi Alade wrote, “Thank you for giving me & millions of others a reason to NOT INVEST IN LAGOS REAL ESTATE @followlasg. Maybe when you are done turning the whole Lagos into a network of Roads with no residents then your MEGA city dreams will be complete. Please start refunding legal buyers at least.”

“Send notices to the residents directly! Put it in the news! Showing up like santa clause and issuing 2hr notice is trauma unleashed for undeserving citizens. They are not the developer and yes the developer has also failed residents!”

“Why and how was the building APPROVED in the first place! @followlasg. Why and how was the building plan of Mende villa 1 approved in the first place! @followlasg. You have commissioned several building plans in conjunction with Legrande and gained the trust of many. Why dash it all with this one blow? 2hrs notice is trivial!” she added.

KanyiDaily recalls that Lagos State Government had vowed that more structures will go down amid controversies surrounding the demolition of buildings in the state.
