Monday Okpebholo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken a major lead in the Edo State governorship election.

Edo Election: APC’s Okpebholo Leads Ighodalo With 48,000 Votes After Results From 16 LGAs

Okpebholo currently holds a margin of more than 48,000 votes over his closest competitor, Asue Ighodalo, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This is according to results from 16 local government areas announced at the INEC Collation Centre in Benin City on Sunday, September 22.

Okpebholo, who also serves as the senator for Edo Central, has secured victories in 10 of these areas. He has garnered 244,549 votes, while Ighodalo has 195,954.

Ighodalo has won in six local government areas, while Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata trails in third place with only 13,346 votes.

KanyiDaily recalls that Olumide Akpata has lost his polling unit to the PDP’s Asue Ighodalo in Oredo Local government area.
