Edo Election: Tinubu Hails APC’s Okpebholo Victory, Urges Aggrieved Parties To Seek Redress In Court

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for winning the Edo State governorship election.

KanyiDaily recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Okpebholo the winner on Sunday.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised APC leaders at both the national and state levels, along with the party’s governors, for their role in securing the victory.

Tinubu said that the win reflects the people’s support for the APC’s progressive vision, economic reforms, and dedication to improving Nigerians’ lives.

The statement reads, “President Tinubu commends APC national leaders, Edo State leaders, and party governors for working hard to achieve victory.

“He says the victory testified to the people’s support for the ruling party, its progressive ideals, its economic reengineering programme and its commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.”

The president urged Senator Okpebholo to approach his victory with humility, advising him to unite the people of Edo State and work with his political opponents to ensure progress.

Tinubu also recognized the other candidates for their role in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy, emphasizing that the peaceful nature of the election showcases the country’s stability.

The President encouraged any dissatisfied parties to pursue legal options to resolve their grievances.

He also applauded the people of Edo State for their orderly behavior during the election, saying it reflects the growth of Nigeria’s democracy after 25 years.

Tinubu also commended the INEC and security agencies for their efforts in delivering a peaceful and largely smooth election, stating that INEC has once again demonstrated its commitment to holding free and fair elections in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has reacted to Monday Okpebholo’s victory in the Edo governorship election.
