Defence Headquarters: Simon Ekpa to Be Extradited to Nigeria to Face Charges

The Defence Headquarters has confirmed that Simon Ekpa, a prominent pro-Biafra agitator, will be extradited to Nigeria following his arrest by Finnish authorities.

Is Simon Ekpa Arrested in Finland?

A Finnish court ordered the detention of Simon Ekpa, a separatist leader accused of using social media to spread terrorist propaganda in Nigeria.

The Päijät-Häme district court remanded him in prison after the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested Ekpa and four others on charges linked to terrorism.

Simon Ekpa, who declared himself the Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic, has been accused of promoting terrorism and inciting unrest in the South-East region of Nigeria.

Ekpa’s arrest earlier today in Finland marks a significant development in the Nigerian government’s efforts to address the activities of separatist groups. Authorities have accused him of using his platform to encourage violent actions, including the enforcement of sit-at-home orders, which have disrupted daily life and economic activities in the region.

The Defence Headquarters stated that extradition procedures are already in motion, ensuring that Ekpa will face justice for his alleged actions. His arrest is seen as a pivotal step in curbing separatist agitations and restoring order in the affected areas.

More details are expected as the extradition process unfolds. This development has sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians calling for justice and a resolution to the ongoing tensions in the South-East.
