President Tinubu Travels To Saudi Arabia For Joint Arab-Islamic Summit

President Bola Tinubu is set to travel from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia on Sunday to participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, which will kick off in Riyadh on Monday.

The summit, hosted by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aims to address pressing issues in the Middle East, with a particular focus on the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict.

In a statement on Saturday, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, said Tinubu will advocate for an immediate ceasefire and push for renewed efforts towards a two-state solution as a means to establish lasting peace in the region.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Sunday for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, which will focus on the current situation in the Middle East,” the statement reads.

The Summit will commence on Monday, November 11, 2024. It is being held at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and follows last year’s summit in the same Saudi city.

“During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to address the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict, emphasising Nigeria’s strong call for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution.

“At the event, Nigeria will be advocating renewed efforts to “revive the two-state solution as a pathway to lasting peace in the region.”

Accompanying Tinubu will be key Nigerian officials, including Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Information and National Orientation Minister Mohammed Idris, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mohammed Mohammed.

After the conclusion of the summit, President Tinubu will return to Abuja,” the presidential spokesman said.

KanyiDaily recalls that President Bola Tinubu recently sworn in seven newly appointed ministers during a ceremony held at the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
