Skateboarding and Music: Spotify’s Skate Noise Electrifies Lagos

Last weekend, Spotify transformed Lagos Island’s WAF Skatepark into a vibrant hub, celebrating the perfect blend of skateboarding and music. The event exposed the city’s thriving skate culture, pulsing with authenticity, energy and community.

Hosted by Ire Culture, the event was a whirlwind of excitement and creativity. The DJ lineup was on fire, with OOO, Dutty Yosa and WEAREALLCHEMICALS keeping the crowd energized throughout the day.

The skate competitions were off the hook, with skaters defying gravity and imagination to pull off mind-blowing tricks. The music was just as impressive, with Rigo Kamp, Siraheem and Cruel Santino captivating the crowd with their performances. Uncle Bubu wrapped up the event with his DJ set, making the night even more memorable. Skate Noise was more than just a showcase of incredible skateboarding skills, it was a vibrant celebration of urban fashion. The event highlighted stylish streetwear, amplifying the excitement and energy of the experience.

What made Spotify Skate Noise truly extraordinary wasn’t just its individual elements, but their seamless fusion.

“Spotify’s commitment to amplifying diverse voices and cultures is at the heart of our mission. Skate Noise is a testament to that commitment,” says Phiona Okumu, Head of Music for Spotify Sub-Saharan Africa.

The event was more than just a showcase of tricks and beats; it was a celebration of community. Skaters, musicians and fashionistas united, sharing their passion for skateboarding. It was a powerful reminder that skateboarding in Lagos is not just becoming a sport but also a way of life.

Spotify’s Skate Noise was a huge success, proving that Lagos’s skate culture is alive and thriving!
