According to a video shared by Omera Ugbede Opaluwa, a resident of Ajaokuta in Kogi, the baby girl was found crying near the Niger Bridge by a local community leader.
Alongside the child, baby clothes, a wrapper, and a few other belongings were discovered at the scene.
The community leader said that while they care for the baby, they would report the case to local authorities in hopes of locating the child’s mother.
After the video was shared on social media, Uriel Oputa reacted in the comment section of a blog post, offering to adopt the baby.
She wrote, “Pls let me have her. She will never go hungry,” assuring that the child would be well cared for if placed in her custody.
It’s still uncertain whether Uriel has officially reached out to begin the adoption process through the appropriate channels.
KanyiDaily recalls that in 2023, Uriel Oputa publicly shared her battle with amenorrhea, revealing that her doctors told her she might not be able to have children of her own.
