The two men pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy and disturbing public peace when they appeared before the court.
The court’s president, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, granted them bail, setting it at N200,000 each.
She also required them to provide two reliable sureties apiece, noting that each surety must show proof of paying taxes in Oyo State for the past three years and must present a valid ID.
Akintayo adjourned the case until July 2 for further hearing.
Earlier, the prosecuting officer, Inspector Ayodele Ayeni, told the court that the incident happened on May 13 around 12:30 a.m. outside the Mapo police station in Ibadan.
Ayeni explained that the brothers allegedly shouted insults and used abusive language toward Inspector Taiwo Ige and two other officers.
He said their actions stirred public anger toward the police, leading to a disturbance.
The charges, according to the prosecutor, are in violation of sections 516 and 249 of the Criminal Code of Oyo State, 2000.
