Ten players from the Nigerian domestic league made the cut, including Kano Pillars veteran Ahmed Musa.
Most of the local players come from the Super Eagles B team that secured a spot in next year’s African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Among them are Junior Nduka, Sikiru Alimi, and Sodiq Ismaila of Remo Stars; Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Saviour Isaac, and Collins Ugwueze of Enugu Rangers; along with Papa Daniel Mustapha, Adamu Abubakar, and Waliu Ojetoye from Niger Tornadoes, Plateau United, and Ikorodu City.
Several regulars, including Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, Alex Iwobi, and Victor Boniface, were not selected for the tournament.
However, the squad still boasts experienced players like Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Simon Moses, Stanley Nwabali, Samuel Chukwueze, Cyriel Dessers, and Frank Onyeka.
One fresh face in the camp is Chrisantus Uche from Getafe, who received his first-ever call-up to the senior national team.
The Unity Cup is a four-team tournament scheduled to run from May 27 to 31 at the Gtech Stadium in London.
Nigeria will play Ghana in the opening match. The winner will face either Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago in the final, while the losers from both semi-finals will contest the third-place match before the championship game on May 31.
After the Unity Cup, the Super Eagles will travel to Moscow for a friendly against Russia on June 6 at the Luzhniki Stadium.
Some of the players not included in the Unity Cup squad—like Ekong, Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Raphael Onyedika, Boniface, and Sadiq Umar—will join the team for that game.
