In the video, which has sparked reactions online, two armed police officers were seen running behind Angela Okorie during a workout session.
However, it’s believed the footage might be from the set of “Queen of Guns”, a movie the actress started promoting around two months ago.
On Instagram, Okorie had earlier shared a clip teasing the project with caption: “Day 1: Lights camera action! Queen of Guns is ready to blow away your mind. Are you ready?”
Despite the video’s likely connection to the film, the police said the behavior of the officers involved does not meet the standards expected from members of the Force.
In a statement, Police spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said that, whether staged or not, the officers’ actions have raised concerns among the public and within the Force.
He confirmed that steps are already being taken to identify the officers and review the incident, noting that disciplinary action will follow after the internal review is completed.
Adejobi said, “The Nigeria Police Force strongly frowns at the conduct of armed police officers seen in a viral video trailing actress Angela Okorie while she jogged — an act considered clearly inconsistent with the professional standards and decorum expected of personnel of the Force.
“The incident, which appears to have occurred on or around a movie set, has also sparked widespread public concern and criticism.
“While it remains unclear whether the scene was part of a scripted production, the conduct of the officers seen in the video falls short of the standards expected of members of the Nigeria Police Force.
“Accordingly, necessary administrative processes have been initiated to identify the officers involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the video, while appropriate disciplinary action will be taken based on the outcome of the review.
“The Force remains committed to upholding professionalism, discipline, and public trust.”
As of the time of filing this report, Angela Okorie has not issued any statement about the incident.
KanyiDaily recalls that Angela Okorie has recently recounted how her Samsung phone was stolen on the set of the movie “Unholy Fantasy”.
