Speaking to journalists at his hometown in Igbere, Kalu said he remains fully committed to the APC and is determined to help the party succeed in future elections.
When asked whether the APC can defeat the Labour Party in Abia come 2027, the senator representing Abia North said he and other loyal party members would work hard to deliver votes for President Bola Tinubu in the state.
“APC is strong in Abia. Like I said in my interview, I am ready to lay down my life for the party. I am a member of the party and a strong one at that. I am APC to the core.
“That’s why APC is strong in Abia North. Our party will work hard to deliver the President in the state. We have done it in the past, and we will do it again in 2027,” Kalu said.
He also addressed his recent meeting with Abia State Governor Alex Otti, which sparked criticism from within the APC.
Kalu clarified that his visit was personal and based on his role as a former governor, not a party move.
Kalu, a former Senate Chief Whip, went on to praise President Tinubu’s leadership over the last two years, saying the President has laid a solid foundation for the country and needs continued support to finish his plans, particularly for the Southeast.
He acknowledged the challenges facing the economy but expressed optimism that things will improve.
Orji Kalu said, “The economy needs time to bounce back. The President is working to ensure that the economy bounces back.”
“Petroleum subsidy was a big scam. No President or governor wants their citizens to suffer. That is the reason the President is doing all he can to ensure that life becomes bearable for Nigerians.
“The President has done well in the last two years. I am urging Nigerians to come together to support the President.”
He encouraged Nigerians to unite behind Tinubu so the country can move forward.
Kalu also claimed that Governor Otti is using the same development model he introduced when he led the state.
