“Our School Will Be Proud Of Us” — Tinubu Hails His Chicago University Mate In Abuja [Video]

President Bola Tinubu on Monday reunited with Alex Sigman, a former classmate from Chicago State University, during the inauguration of tractors in Abuja.

Tinubu revealed that Sigman, who hails from Belarus and is a successful businessman, was once his neighbour during their university days in the United States.

Speaking during the event, the President said neither of them could have imagined back then that one would become Nigeria’s president and the other a major international investor.

“My dear very good friend, the story must be clear here. Alex Sigman, howe are you. Thank you and congratulation. When we were together at Chicago STate University, he was my very good neighbour. 

“Neither did we preempt that I will be the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, nor did we see Sigman as a successful businessman willing to bring a bilateral relationship that will promote economic prosperity that will benefit our two countries. 

“Thank you Alex, I believe our university will be proud of us today,” Tinubu said.

Tinubu’s public recognition of his former classmate comes years after questions were raised about the authenticity of his academic records.

In 2023, opposition presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party had sought a U.S. court order to access Tinubu’s academic files from CSU.

The former vice president argued that the records could help resolve discrepancies tied to the president’s background.

However, Tinubu filed a motion to prevent a federal court in the United States from releasing his university academic records to the opposition leader.

KanyiDaioy recalls that the Supreme Court also rejected Atiku’s plea to introduce a copy of Tinubu’s certificate from the Chicago State University (CSU) as evidence.
