Trump Announces Ceasefire Between Israel And Iran After 12-Day War

U.S President Donald Trump says that Iran and Israel have agreed to a full ceasefire, which is expected to take effect within hours.

Trump made the announcement on Monday, not long after Iran launched a missile strike on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, a site used by U.S. forces.

In a post on social media, the US president said the ceasefire will take effect on Tuesday, stressing that it will bring the 12-day war to a close.

Officially, Iran will start the ceasefire and, upon the 12th hour, Israel will start the ceasefire and, upon the 24th hour, an official end to the 12-day war will be saluted by the world,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“During each ceasefire, the other side will remain peaceful and respectful. On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both countries, Israel and Iran, on having the stamina, courage, and intelligence to end what should be called ‘The 12-Day War’.

“This is a war that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will! God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and God bless the world.”

Trump also claimed that both Iran and Israel reached out to him at nearly the same time to push for peace.

However, Iranian state television painted a different picture, saying Trump “begged” for a ceasefire.

In a post on his X page, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said that Iran does not wish to continue fighting, but only if Israel stops its military actions.

Araghchi said Iran’s final decision would depend on how Israel behaves in the coming hours.

However, provided that the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4am Tehran time, we have no intention to continue our response afterwards.

“The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later,” he said.

On the other side, Israel issued its first public statement on the ceasefire through Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.

Netanyahu said Israel had accepted Trump’s proposal after achieving all of its objectives “and far beyond” after nearly two weeks of strikes on Iran.

Israel has eliminated an immediate and dual existential threat — both in the nuclear domain and in the realm of ballistic missiles,” the statement said.

“Additionally, the IDF has achieved full aerial control over Tehran’s skies, dealt a severe blow to the Iranian military leadership, and destroyed dozens of key regime targets in Iran.”

The statement also thanked the U.S. for supporting what it described as the removal of Iran’s nuclear threat.

However, it warned that Israel would not tolerate any violation of the truce and would respond with force if necessary.

Trump’s ceasefire announcement came not long after he hinted at the possibility of regime change in Iran.

The announcement followed a series of major developments, including U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites over the weekend.

Iran responded by launching missile attacks on U.S. bases in Qatar and Iraq, continuing the chain of tit-for-tat military actions that had unfolded over the past week.

KanyiDaily recalls that Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu previously revealed that his son Avner’s wedding had been postponed for a second time because of the war with Iran.
