Among those in attendance were former Vice President and 2023 Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, his Labour Party counterpart Peter Obi, former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, and ex-Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi.
Also present were former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola, who were recently named as the interim national chairman and secretary of the ADC, respectively.
Other notable figures at the meeting included former senator Dino Melaye, ex-Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung, media personality Dele Momodu, Senator Gabriel Suswam, Labour Party’s Senator Ireti Kingibe, former Deputy Speaker Emeka Ihedioha, and former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retired).
A number of politicians from the PDP, Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Labour Party also took part in the gathering.
The coalition has now officially adopted the ADC as its political platform for the 2027 general elections, with the goal of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
David Mark’s appointment as interim chairman follows his recent resignation from the PDP, while Aregbesola will serve as the interim secretary as the coalition moves forward with its plans.
KanyiDaily recalls that a faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) recently opposed the party’s adoption by the coalition of opposition politicians.
