Julius Abure Reveals Why He Vsited Nyesom Wike In Abuja

Julius Abure, the factional chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has responded to criticism over his recent meeting with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The backlash came after photos of Julius Abure and Nyesom Wike meeting in Abuja surfaced online.

Some members of the party felt the meeting went against the party’s principles, accusing Abure of turning his back on the LP’s position.

Speaking at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Monday, Abure explained that the visit was personal and had nothing to do with party politics.

He addressed the issue by saying, “Last week, I met with the FCT minister, and it attracted a lot of comments, a lot of misconceptions, and a lot of talk about the photographic events.”

Julius Abure said there was nothing wrong with meeting a government official, especially since he lives in Abuja.

Now that we have the privilege of convening this meeting, it’s an opportunity for me to make a few brief remarks.

“I want to say, firstly and very clearly, that I am in Nigeria. I live in the FCT, and Nyesom Wike is the FCT minister.

“I have the right, as a Nigerian, to interface and interact with anybody—with any public officer in the federal government of Nigeria.

“The meeting was privileged and, therefore, was purely a private meeting,” he said.

Abure also took the opportunity to reaffirm his leadership in the Labour Party, stating that he has helped grow the party into a national force.

He said, “I also want to say clearly and quickly that we have paid our dues in the Labour Party.

“We have controlled this party for many years, and by the grace of God, today, the party has become one of the biggest political parties in Nigeria, under my watch.”

The timing of the meeting is significant, as it comes during a deepening leadership crisis within the Labour party.

KanyiDaily recalls that another faction of the Labour Party recently elected Senator Usman Nenadi as the Interim National Chairman.
