TikTok Hosts Digital Media Workshop to Empower Nigerian Media Professionals

TikTok, the world’s leading short-form video platform, hosted a dynamic one-day digital media workshop designed to equip Nigerian media professionals with the essential skills needed to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving online landscape.

The workshop, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, brought together journalists, bloggers, broadcasters, and content creators from across the country for a full day of learning, networking, and digital transformation.

Designed to empower both emerging and established media outlets, the workshop featured expert-led sessions on critical tools and strategies for digital success. Topics included TikTok’s Creative Search Insight Tool, algorithm optimization, content strategies for greater reach, brand collaboration techniques, and creating trending content that resonates with audiences.

Speaking at the event, Keagile Makgoba, TikTok’s Head of Communications for Sub-Saharan Africa, emphasized the platform’s commitment to empowering media professionals. “This workshop is part of our broader goal to equip journalists with the right tools to succeed. We are building a community where creativity meets opportunity,” Makgoba said.

Top TikTok officials and digital media experts guided attendees through sessions focused on storytelling, audience engagement, monetization, and maintaining authenticity in the digital space. Interactive Q&A panels and hands-on mentoring allowed participants to gain real-time feedback and insights tailored to their unique media needs.

Attendees described the event as a “game-changer,” praising the depth of knowledge shared and the platform’s effort to invest in local talent. Many expressed renewed confidence in navigating digital media with strategic focus and creativity.

As TikTok continues to invest in the growth of Nigeria’s digital media ecosystem, the platform hopes to address key challenges faced by journalists and content creators, while fostering a more innovative and inclusive social media environment.
