With vision boards making way for fresh goals, what better way to embrace your ‘main character energy’ than with a playlist that truly represents you? Spotify is kicking off the new year with a feature that gives users more creative control over their playlists. Free and Premium users can now customize their playlist cover art using unique images, colors, text effects, graphics, and more.
Music playlists are more than just collections of songs—they tell stories, evoke emotions, and represent different moments in life. With the new cover art tool, Spotify users can visually enhance their playlists, making them more personal and engaging. Whether it’s a high-energy workout mix or a chill Sunday afternoon selection, playlist covers can now match the vibe perfectly.
To celebrate this launch, Spotify hosted an exclusive event on January 29th at The Waterside in Lekki, Lagos. The gathering brought together Spotify users, media professionals, and influencers for an evening of music, creativity, and storytelling. Hosted by popular podcaster Taymesan, the event featured interactive experiences, including a custom photo booth and live cover art creation sessions.
Guests had the opportunity to experiment with the new feature, designing their own playlist covers and connecting over shared musical interests. The event was filled with vibrant conversations, dancing, and a shared enthusiasm for the evolving music-streaming experience.
Spotify’s Head of Communications and PR in Sub-Saharan Africa, Miche Atagana, emphasized the significance of this new feature:
“This feature is another fun way we are celebrating users; giving them more creative freedom over their playlist aesthetic, making their soundtracks feel authentic to their lives,” she says.
With over 8 billion playlists on the platform, Spotify continues to evolve how users tell their stories through music, now with a more personalized visual touch.
