Onyekere, a son of a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra, was kidnapped on Saturday when gunmen stormed his home in Ezinifite, Okpuno, in Awka South Local Government Area.
Despite a ransom being paid, the businessman’s body was found days later, sparking widespread anger and sadness across the country.
Reacting in a video posted on his social media page, VeryDarkMan broke down in tears, expressing deep concern over the worsening insecurity in Anambra and across Nigeria.
The activist questioned the future of young business owners in a country where such violence has become alarmingly common.
He also announced plans to visit Anambra on August 4 to hold a candlelight procession in Ifesinachi Onyekere’s honour.
VeryDarkMan added that the visit would include a walk through the fish market and an awareness campaign to draw attention to the rising cases of abduction and violence in the state.
He noted that the candlelight vigil would be planned to avoid clashing with the sit-at-home order usually observed in the region.
“The kidnapping and killings in Anambra State is too much. What is the hope of the entrepreneurs, what is the hope of those going into business in Nigeria?
“I will be coming to Anambra State maybe on the 4th then Maybe we can do a candle light when it will not clash with the sit-at-home in the state.
“Well will do walking in the fish market and do some awareness on the kidnappings going on in Anambra State,” he said.
KanyiDaily also reported that Anambra State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the gunmen who abducted and killed Ifesinachi Onyekere, known locally as Fish Magnet.
