A statement on Monday by the state police spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso, said the discovery was made after a farmer, Babagana Kachalla, reported seeing a strange object on his land.
Following the alert, the Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, dispatched the Commander of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit in Maiduguri and his team to the site.
The device, which turned out to be a cluster bomb measuring about 2.2 meters long and 30 centimeters wide, was partially buried in the ground.
