Qatar Bans ‘Single’ Nigerian Men From Entering Their Country

Qatar has rolled out new visa rules that stop unmarried Nigerian men from getting tourist or transit visas, citing repeated cases of overstaying by visitors.

Under the new policy, only women and families will be eligible to apply, while Nigerian men can now only qualify if they are traveling with their families.

The announcement, issued recently by Qatar’s Ministry of Interior, explains that stricter measures were introduced to ensure compliance with entry and exit rules.

The ministry noted that many Nigerian travellers had overstayed their visas in the past.

Applicants must now also show proof of a return ticket and a hotel reservation before their visa can be processed.

However, only bookings with five-star hotels will be accepted.

The Qatar Ministry of Interior has announced updated visa regulations for Nigerian travellers, following recent cases of overstays.

“A confirmed return transfer must now be booked alongside your hotel before your tourist or transit visa can be processed.

“Only females or families may apply. Male travellers are no longer eligible unless accompanied by their family. Only 5-star hotels are now accepted for visa qualification,” the notice read in part.

The directive applies to both fresh and pending applications, meaning those already in the process could also be affected.

Although Qatar is not a major hub for permanent migration, it has long been a popular tourist spot for Nigerians, attracting thousands each year.

With the new restrictions, however, access to the Gulf nation for leisure or short stays could become much harder for many Nigerian men.

KanyiDaily recalls that UK Government recently announced on Sunday that people with criminal records will face stricter limits under its new “Plan for Change”.
